There are days when I feel like I am holding three conversations at once: One with my own thoughts. One with my running to do list. And one with a small human standing next to me, proudly showing me a drawing of a lizard while counting to seventy four.
I am listening. I really am. But I am also mentally tracking what time we need to leave, whether I answered that email, and why the day already feels behind before it has even started.
This is real life.
Not quiet mornings. Not clean blocks of focus. Not perfectly executed plans.
And yet, this is the version of life most systems quietly ignore.
So when a routine falls apart or a plan stops working, we assume the problem is motivation or discipline or follow through.
But often, the problem is much simpler: it’s that the system was never built to survive a real day.
What Real Life Constraints Actually Look Like
Constraints are not personal flaws, but rather the conditions you are working within. Like trying to finish a thought while also answering questions, managing emotions, and remembering what still needs to happen before dinner. Or days where shit goes sideways, and maybe even hits the fan. Or like days where nothing goes “wrong” exactly, but everything takes a little more energy than expected.
Constraints sometimes look like being deeply committed to growth and still feeling tapped out by mid afternoon.
None of this means you are failing. It means you are human.

That might mean planning in ranges instead of exact times. It might mean choosing a few priorities instead of packing the day full. It might mean recognizing that some days are for maintenance, not momentum.
