It Rains Right Before You Bloom

I’m not sure who originally said it, but I'd bet you’ve heard this quote before:

"If you’re praying for flowers, don’t be surprised when it starts to rain."

We love to ask for growth.

We say we’re ready for change.

We ask for more; more peace, more purpose, more alignment.

But what we don’t always realize is that those things rarely show up with a nice little bow.

Sometimes they arrive disguised as rain.

The detour.

The disappointment.

The season that stretches you in all the ways you didn’t ask for.

Growth Isn’t Always Comfortable, But It’s Always Worth It

Think about it:

Flowers can’t grow without rain.

So why would we expect our own transformation to come without discomfort?

Sometimes the rain is:

  • A hard situation that builds your endurance

  • A conflict that reveals your people-pleasing

  • A slowdown that protects you from making a misaligned choice

  • A wave of doubt that forces you to find your own voice

It doesn’t always feel “good” in the moment. But it’s often exactly what we need.

Rain Nourishes More Than We Realize

Hard seasons have a way of softening us.

Of revealing what we’re still carrying.

Of making us pay attention to what we’ve been avoiding.

You might not recognize it now, but this storm?

It’s doing work underground.

Maybe it’s feeding your self-trust.

Maybe it’s breaking down old beliefs.

Maybe it’s giving you the tools you’ll need later—when the bloom comes.

Let It Rain

If you’re in the middle of a downpour right now, I want you to remember:

You didn’t do something wrong.

You’re not being punished.

And this isn’t the end of the story.

You asked for flowers.

You’re getting the water.

Keep going.

Because the bloom?

It’s on its way.
